History Born in St. Petersburg on January 10, 1972, Zinovia Nikolaevna Baranov would soon come to wish her life could be a quiet one. She was the last of three children to her parents for the reason her mother had slipped into insanity only two years after she was born. As a dream seer, her mother constantly saw dreams of people dieing and no way to stop any of it from happening. Her mother was soon admitted to a mental hospital where they could watch over her. Her father was then faced with the difficulties of raising all three children on his own and found even more troubles connecting with Zinovia as she grew up unsure of what to do with her. Zinovia learned to adjust and spent more time doing things her father and brothers wanted to do then what she wanted. Something she had always held onto was the joys of teaching and helping other people, so when she finally had the opportunity to choose a career path, she decided to become a teacher.
Before she headed off to her first days of classes, she stopped by her mother in the hospital. While her mother seemed calm before, the moment Zinovia entered the room, her mother began mumbling nonsense. She began exclaiming more about the end of the world and was difficult to make any sense of what she was saying. Finally Zinovia heard her mother say, “All my children will die.” Zinovia surprised by this out burst, tried asking what her mother meant, but all she was able to get out of her was mumblings.
Zinovia spent the next several months trying to make some sense of what her mother was talking about, but came up with nothing. Her mother was crazy, therefore it didn’t mean anything. It wouldn’t be until the next month after one of her classes, a classmate of her asked if they could talk. The girl was calm as she asked if Zinovia knew who she would give her life up for. Zinovia confused by this was told by the girl that it was her gift to save another person’s life at the cost of her own. Zinovia tried to ask the girl what she meant, but the girl only replied that one day she will see. The next week, the girl never showed up to class. When Zinovia asked around she found out the girl’s brother had been in a car accident and should have died from it, but miraculously he recovered from all of his injuries, but sadly some how the sister, who seemed perfectly fine died. It was then; Zinovia realized what the girl meant.
At the age of nineteen, Zinovia and a fellow classmate Nikanor Alexandrovich Nekrosov began dating. The two were married in only a short period of time mainly because Zinovia had discovered she was pregnant with a son. Their son, Osip Nikanorivich Nekrasov was born only a few days after Zinovia’s twentieth birthday on the 16th of January, 1992.
Over the next few months, Nikanor began to feel increasingly tired. Worried it might be something, Nikanor went in for a routine check up. When he came back, he broke the bad news to Zinovia. But Zinovia had recently seen that he didn’t have much longer to live as she saw a death date appear in her mind. She watched horrified as the day came closer and closer, until it was the night he was supposed to die. She remembered what the girl had done, gave up her own life to save her brothers. Zinovia sat quietly next to Nikanor and her mind ran over and over the possibility of saving his. But in the end she couldn’t do it. She truly did love Nikanor, but knew she couldn’t leave her son either. She watched hopelessly as he died quietly as he slept.
Over the next few years, Zinovia balanced raising Osip and continuing her classes until she was finally able to become a teacher.
Having turned twenty-seven not too long ago, she works with the younger age groups at a school. She lives in a small house with her son as well as one of her brothers, who much like their mother can see the future in his dreams. He has told her about the end of the world, and how they might all die. But now she believes it, and wishes it wouldn’t happen.
Powers Shadow Sacrifice. At the price of her own life, she is able to bring someone back from the dead. Also connected with this ability, she can tell when someone is about to die.
Personality: Polite, soft spoken and calm, she can keep calm in almost any situation, but dealing with small screaming kids all day will help with that. With plenty of patience she can work with anyone, although she has a harder time with the pushy parents.
She can be sociable if she wants to be or if the situation calls for it, but normally she’ll be happy to listen and not say very much. Making her a good candidate to talk to if someone has problems.
She likes to keep her private life just that, private, rarely sharing her feelings with anyone.
There are times she feels guilty for having the power to have saved her husband, but choose her own life over his. Above anything else, she is afraid to die. She’s worried what will happen to her son and how he will grow up without her.
